Blog Posting!
The CONTINUOUS STORY is about to begin! Here's the optional blog assignment for this week:
I will begin a story with a couple of sentences; your job is to continue it with two postings of your own, apart from each other. Each posting needs to be at least 2 sentences, but you can write as much as you want. Here's how we'll start it:
It was a dark and stormy night as the two friends approached the abandoned house. Thunder rumbled behind them, and rain threatened the sky. Still, they continued to move towards the house.
Take it from there, folks!

You have 5 days and $5,000 to go on vacation in July 2011! You can choose one of these cities for your vacation destination:

Moscow, Russia

When will you be traveling? Where are you traveling to?
How much is a flight to your city (remember, you need a round trip ticket!)? You can fly out of Cincinnati (CVG), Louisville (SDF), or Lexington (LEX).
Where will you be staying? How much will it cost?
Where will you be eating each day? How much will it cost?
What will you be doing each day (what sights will you see)? How much will it cost?
Fill out the chart you are given, and happy travels!

Students Respond: Part 2!
Great posts on the previous topic! I have a feeling that you'll see that poem again sometime in high school...
NEW TOPIC!!! There are a ton of websites out there that I am sure you go to daily to check different stuff, from social networking to sports to news, etc. You have two choices to respond to:
1. What sites do you use that really help you with your schoolwork (any class)? Why are they so helpful? (Provide links if you know how!)
2. Which sites that you use need you to have good reading/writing skills? Why is this so? (Once again, provide links if you know how!)
RESPOND TO 1 OF THESE QUESTIONS IN 2-4 SENTENCES, AND RESPOND TO AT LEAST ONE OTHER STUDENT!

The Long Trip Home... And Back!
Last last Sunday, my wife Laura and I went on a grand road trip across the United States to visit my family in Southern California for Christmas... we just arrived home tonight! It was a pretty great trip, filled with a lot of very memorable moments, both good and bad. I thought you might enjoy a timeline of the trip.

Concluding Paragraph for the Feature Article
The concluding paragraph is a modified APE paragraph. This means that you must have a topic sentence and four main points in each paragraph, and each point should be explained in at least another sentence. The final sentence should state that the rewards outweigh the challenges in your occupation, and that you look forward to having that job some day.
